Organic cotton is not exposed to the weakening, harsh chemicals that commercially grown cotton is, therefore, organic cotton will last many years, with the proper care.
Do not use harsh chemicals, fabric softeners, or bleach. Tide and other powerful detergents are full of chemicals that are hard on delicate organics. Because we do not use chemical fixatives color will fade if powerful detergents or bleaching agents are used. Do not over heat organic cotton. Machine wash in cold or cold/warm water. Drying with high heat can cause more than 4% shrinkage. Conventional cotton apparel is generally treated with chemicals to reduce the shrinkage effects of heat. Organic cotton is not treated, so in high heat it is possible for the cotton to shrink more than 10%.
Tip: Hang to dry. If using dryer, use Air cycle, no heat.
